wolf fending off pack of Kangals single handedly. Although Kangals were bred to fend off wild predators such as wolves, bears, leopards, foxes etc and they do get their job done most of the time. But sometimes, they do come across some tough opponents who would not give up that easily.

Wolves will always have an edge over dogs, if they are to fight 1 on 1. In some cases a dog may be able to dominate the wolf but it all varies from dog to dog and wolf to wolf. Age, size, circumstances all play an important role when it comes to dominating or fighting for life. Both wolves and dogs have the same number of teeth, but the skull and jaw, are larger and stronger in the wolves. This is likely due to their need to bite and break things like bones in the wild, compared with dogs who evolved much more as scavengers of human refuse.

Some people believe a wolf can bite with up to 1,000 per square inch, but testing animals for bite force can be difficult. A wolf's bite varies because of its size, and whether the wolf was biting at its hardest or only playing and same goes for the dogs. However, if this wolf managed to get away from a pack of Kangal , this doesn't make kangals weak or lame dogs. On many occasions a single Kangal did manage to fend off a pack of wolves as well.
As we explained earlier, it all varies from dog to dog and wolf to wolf. In this particular video the wolf refused to give up that easily, it kept on fighting back and at the end did manage to escape.

Wolves are incredibly strong. They can swim across a lake, and then take off on a dead run at 30mph as if nothing had happened. They can trot all day long, on their long legs at 6 to 8 mph and cover over 30 miles easily.
A wolf’s feet are adept to all kinds of terrain. They have tremendous bursts of speed which they can sustain. Wolves have tremendous lung capacity. A wolf’s brain is 30% larger than a domestic dog’s brain. Wolves can hunt just as well at night, as they can during the day. Wolves have excellent night vision. So all in all wolves will always have an edge over dogs, no matter what.
However, breeds like working Kangals, Caucasian Shepherds, Alabais, Irish Wolfhounds, Dogo argentinos, Bully Kuttas etc can protect your livestock against wolves and can fight them off if they were trained from an early age. Same breeds if raised in a comfy bedroom or backyard, would be no match for a wolf. Lone wolf fights off a pack of kangals!!!
